This week in Fusion we are focusing on apologetics; Knowing Christ and making Him known. This week’s key verse is I Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” We will be learning how to defend our faith. And therefore, we need to be prepared to tell someone what we believe and why we believe it. All parents and students are welcome!

Remember, tutoring is available from 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Wednesday. The Big Mau Mau is on Saturday, September 18. See You At the Pole is on September, 22. And the Fall Retreat is on October 15, 16, and 17. Mark your calendar!

What an exciting week! New Connection Group on Sunday, new school classes on Monday, and a new Fusion on Wednesday. You may be asking yourself, what’s new about Fusion on Wednesday? Well, I am glad you asked. From 5:00pm to 6:00pm we are opening our doors to Rousseau for anyone needing help with homework…or want to get done with it. We have tutors on site and are ready to help. Then, we are “hangin out with guys”, listening to the “Old Fusion”, and the not so new part is listening to me speak. And let’s not forget Reaction Groups. Come; see what all the excitement is about.

September 18 we are going to Blue Angel Recreation area and cooking out. This is for all grades and it’s free! Put it on your calendar.

I John 5:21 says, “Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.” (NLT) As the new school year begins, keep in mind all the things that could possibly take the place of God in your hearts: Boyfriends, girlfriends, money, grades, popularity, toys, and then guard your heart from those things. It is easy to lust after things that are temporary. God says to seek after those things that are eternal: the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Seeking his holiness should be the one thing and the only thing that concerns us. Everything else is like chasing after the wind (meaningless).

Remember, all Connection Groups for middle school meet in upstairs Rousseau. Come hungry for breakfast, but more importantly come hungry for God’s word. See you there!

By the way, if any middle school students need help in school, tutors are available in any subjects from 5:00pm to 6:00pm in upstairs Rousseau Hall.

“Zacchaeus was a wee little man and a wee little man was he. He climbed up in a sycamore tree for the Lord he wanted to see…” Does anyone remember that old children’s song? We revisited this song and learned to be kind last night. What does being kind look like? We learned what Jesus did in the Book of Luke. Jesus met Zacchaes and befriended him.

But if you remember, from society’s view point, Zacchaeus was looked down upon. He was a tax collector. That’s bad news. But Jesus not only showed kindness, he sought to save that which was lost. And that’s what we should do: purposefully show kindness to everyone (no matter who they are), that the lost shall be saved. And that we need to tell people why we are being kind – Jesus.

When given a blank canvas, what would you paint? Last night our students had an opportunity to create a masterpiece of their own. Come to find out, we have some amazingly talented students here at Olive. Look to see these master pieces displayed in upstairs Rousseau in the coming future. The students will be giving autographs later.

Speaking of masterpieces, when God was handed a blank canvas, what did he create? God’s signature surrounds us daily. As the sun rises to when the stars shine, God’s handiwork is evident. Not only did he create everything, he created everyone. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” We are his masterpiece!

See you tonight, come ready to bowl. Remember to bring $10.00.

Adult VBS. What is adult VBS? Well, its just like children’s VBS, just for adults. There is a rally, break out sessions, recreation, and even snacks! But don’t worry; we have something for your children as well. All throughout the campus there will be something for children, middle school, and high school. For middle school on Sunday there will be paint night. Bring something you can paint in and meet in Rousseau. Monday, we are bowling. Meet in Rousseau and bring $10.00. We are going to Oops Alley. Tuesday, we are having a picture scavenger hunt. And Wednesday we are having Fusion.

I look forward to seeing everyone there!
