W.A.M.M. - Music for Kids

Preschoolers who turn three or four by September 1 look forward to W.A.M.M. (Worship Arts Music Ministry) on Sunday evenings during the school year from 5:15–7:00pm. While parents enjoy the corporate worship service, young children learn how to sing and worship God through music. Periodically, each graded choir will sing during the morning or evening worship service. For more information, contact Rachel Floyd at 850.475.1114 or rfloyd@olivebaptist.org.

Music for Preschoolers

Music Time for toddlers and two year olds offers a time to sing and play while learning important music fundamentals that will help them get ready for W.A.M.M. when they turn three.

The Music Ministry of Olive Baptist Church has one goal and that is to lift high the name of Jesus through excellence in music. In John 12:27-36 we are encouraged to lift Him up so that He may draw souls to Himself and they in turn will become sons and daughters of the Light.

But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Me.

– John 12:32

As worshippers enter the sanctuary we want them to encounter the Holy Spirit through Spirit-filled music. We realize that in His presence chains are broken, victories are won and Jesus is given the freedom to call those who will become sons of God. We desire that everyone who walks into the sanctuary will

put their trust in the Light while they have it, so that they may become sons of Light.

– John 12:36

When our members and guests exit the sanctuary we pray that they will take the Light into the city. We pray that their testimonies will be used mightily to change the hearts of all those with whom they come in contact. You see, we realize that what we do as a music team really does hinge on life or death for many. So, we sing and play aloud our testimony with Revelation 12 in our hearts!

7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. 11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

– Revelation 12:7-11

The Mission of Olive's Music Ministry

To exalt Christ and make disciples through public and private worship.

Our purpose

To develop and nurture men, women, boys and girls as worshipers.

Our objective is to
  • Edify and encourage the Olive Baptist fellowship with engaging opportunities for worship and praise;
  • Evangelize and reach out to the community, region, and the world through comprehensive music ministry;
  • Train musicians as worship leaders;
  • Teach Biblical concepts of music and worship, and promote the various and diverse ministries associated with our church.
  • In addition to planning, preparing, and presenting comprehensive worship and praise for weekly gatherings, the Music Ministry actively seeks to involve people in the Celebration Choir and Orchestra, Children’s Choir Ministries, small vocal groups and Instrumental ensembles, Youth Praise Team, and the Celebration Praise Team.

Our Philosophy of Ministry

Worship and the leading of worship are at the heart and core of the Olive Baptist Church Music Ministry. It IS what we are about.

We believe that God created each person to be a worshiper and that within the heart of each person is the yearning to worship Jesus Christ as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Nothing will ever satisfy or fulfill that need and inner desire except active participation in worship of Jesus Christ, the Lord.

We believe God has called this ministry to lead all of His people at Olive Baptist Church in worship - young and old alike. Thus, we strategically design our worship ministry to meet the needs of a broad, culturally diverse, congregation. We seek to teach and train men and women, boys and girls to be worshipers.
