The Pastoral Ministries office serves in a variety of areas. Our vision is to share the good news and make disciples of Jesus Christ with people in our community and throughout the globe. Our mission is to make visits, offer prayer, comfort, & encouragement, lend Godly counsel & support, and make ministry training available to those who need it. Out of a love and passion for God, our Deacon Ministry serves our church family in many capacities and those in the community. Our Widow Ministry exists to help each other grieve, cope, and experience a close fellowship with other widows.
As part of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, our office serves as an extension center. Each week men and women from surrounding cities come to Olive to study diligently toward their Masters of Divinity degree. As they learn Greek and Hebrew and study the Bible, they are each following their calling from the Lord.
We are here to minister to you.

Huey Pearson serves as the Director of Lay Ministries. He and his family have been long time members of Olive and the Pensacola Community. Huey is married to Susan who teaches in Escambia County. They have two children, Paul and Sarah.
It is the mission of the Lay Ministry Department to help the members of Olive discover their spiritual gifts, their personal style and God-given passion for ministry. We will be teaching spiritual gift classes on Wednesday nights to challenge you to pray and think about the practical application of your gifts to ministry in our church, community and on the mission field. We can help you find a place of service on a ministry team at Olive.
Our Media Library has many available resources to help you indentify and encourage you to use your spiritual gifts. One great resource is the book What You Do Best In the Body of Christ by Bruce Bugbee. You can also go online at teamministry.com and take a Spiritual Gifts Inventory.

Reverend Eugene N. Steele received his bachelor’s degree from William Carey College and his master’s degree in Religious Education from New Orleans Theological Seminary. He has served churches in Bogalusa, LA; New Orleans, LA; Alpharetta, GA; Norfolk, VA; and Douglasville, GA.
He is married to Judith Walker Steele, who works as an Instructor at the University of West Florida. They have two children, Renee and Michael, both of whom are married and have two children each, making Eugene and Judith the proud grandparents of four grandchildren: Caleb, Grace, Morgan, and Garrett.
Eugene has served at Olive since 1979 in various capacities: education director, senior adult director, and pastoral care.
Under the direction of Eugene Steele, caregivers with the gifts of mercy, service, ministry and giving minister to the needs of people in the hospitals, their families, and friends. The ministry team visits nursing homes, private homes, retirement centers, rehabilitation centers, funeral homes, and various other facilities in order to minister to the sick, bereaved, bedridden, and their families. A group of volunteers, the Lighthouse Ministry, meets monthly to review needs and assign new ministering activities.
