The Charis House
A Ministry of Olive Baptist Church

For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you, says the Lord. I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes.
–Jeremiah 29:11-14

The Charis House for women is a faith-based one year residential nonprofit drug and alcohol recovery program. The ladies who enter our facility will live dormitory-style with four residents sharing a room. Our goal is to see lives changed, hope restored, and families reconciled through the power of Jesus Christ.

The Two Phases

Phase I is primary care for nine months that offers structured and disciplined programs to include a faith-based recovery program that teaches life skills using Biblical principles. Daily classes of Christ-centered curriculum, individual and group counseling are used to meet the needs of the whole person (spiritual, physical, mental and social.)

Phase II is offered to those who have shown commitment, diligence, and continued desire in their recovery process. This phase is three months or longer and is focused on continued recovery working toward transition, with career development training to include advanced life skills, group meetings, counseling, building safe support systems, employability skills, and opportunity for further educational or vocational training.

During their stay at The Charis House the residents will participate in a 12-step biblically-based recovery program, and also attend classes in relapse prevention, communication, anger management, and discipline. They will learn Bible history, and knowledge, and also the importance of self. They will identify thinking relative to addictive behavior, change, and other such topics that will be helpful in their recovery.

The residents will receive individual counseling, at which time the residents and their counselors will deal with issues of the past that have been affecting their present and future. Other issues that will be addressed are coping and relationship skills, and issues they may have with their parents and/or children, expectations of themselves and other people.  Most significantly, we will be addressing the issues regarding their personal relationships to God.
