![]() True instruction was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found on his lips: he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity.—Malachi 2:6 Dr. Ted Traylor came to be the pastor of Olive Baptist Church in November 1990. At his request, the church family prays for this scripture to be a reality in his life. That verse is the outline of pastoral ministry at Olive Baptist Church. Our foundation is to be a lighthouse to our community, state and world to share with those who do not know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. We offer visits, comfort, prayer, encouragement, support and training. Olive’s Deacon Ministry and Widow Ministry are part of our structure, building on service, dedication and determination. Our deacons serve their church family in many capacities and those in the community with a love of the Lord. Widows, through a newly organized program, help each other to grieve, cope, and become a part of a close group. As part of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, our office serves as an extension center. Each week men and women from surrounding cities come to Olive to study diligently toward their Masters of Divinity degree. As they learn Greek and Hebrew and study the Bible, they are each following their calling from the Lord. We are here to minister to you. Deacon Officers for 2008 These men were recently elected to serve in the following positions:
